AIG Top Executives Use Our Money For Spa Treatments, Golfing & More
Can someone please explain to me how the top executives at these Fortune 400 companies and heads of publicly traded companies get away with not only GINORMOUS incentive and bonus packages but also expensive business trips?
Case in point, if you haven’t heard by now, top AIG (American International Group) execs spent $440,000 on a luxury spa and resort just DAYS after they received federal money to bail them out. To make matters worse, they spent $23,380 of the money on spa treatments!! What?? Who approved this move with confidence that this was acceptable at a time where people are being laid off in masses and companies are being bailed out in order not to collapse our economy!
Senate leaders are calling for those executives who attended the retreat to be fired. I AGREE! While we suffer with increasing fuel, gas, and grocery costs, and suffer from rising unemployment rates, AIG executives have the audacity to take a trip with money loaned to them to ensure their stability? Why not go to a business retreat or hold a town hall meeting? Heck, why not only spend $50,000? Is that unreasonable or is it that your spoiled
executives can’t think or work in a normal business environment?
This just really pisses me off in a time where I work 60 hour work weeks just to put food on the table and even sacrifice my own manicures and pedicures to save money!
Signed,
Professionally Pissed

According to an article posted by AP:
“I do agree there is some profligate spending there, but the concept of bringing all the major employees together … to ensure that the $85 billion could be as greatly as possible paid back would have been not a crazy corporate decision,” Dinallo told the House committee.
The hearing disclosed that AIG executives hid the full range of its risky financial products from auditors as losses mounted, according to documents released by the committee, which is examining the chain of events that forced the government to bail out the conglomerate.
