I Do, But Just Not Forever! Quickie Celeb Marriages
I Do, But Just Not Forever!
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon shocked us all when it was announced that they had married in a secret ceremony in April 2008 after dating just two months (the couple was rumored to have started dating in March 2008, when sparks flew between the old friends on the set of Mariah’s video for “Bye Bye,” which Nick directed).
We love Mariah and wish her the best in her newlywed bliss, but also hope that once the glossy sheen of her recent sprint down the aisle wears off, that she and Nick will have more staying power than some of the other now-infamous quickie celeb nuptials we’ve seen in the past. Remember these speedy stints at the altar?
5. Renee Zellweger filed for divorce from Kenny Chesney after just 4 months of wedded bliss, citing fraud as the reason. (And we’re still dying to know just what exactly that fraud was all about!)
4. Nikki Hilton and Todd Andrew Meister surprised friends and family with a quickie wedding in 2004, but had the marriage annulled after only 2 months, citing life on opposite coasts as the reason they couldn’t work.
3. Pam Anderson turned heads when she suddenly wed raunchy filmmaker Rick Solomon, but not too many were shocked when this strange pairing split 10 weeks later.
2. Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman. Oddly enough, even though this marriage lasted only 10 days, this couple had dated steadily for 10 months prior to getting married. Go figure.
1. Britney Spears shocked us (little did we know this would only be the first of many shocks in Brit-Brit’s life!) when she married childhood friend Jason Alexander in a spur of the moment Vegas wedding. The down-home bride wore torn jeans and a baseball cap to her wedding, which was annulled a short 55 hours later, y’all.
