Bravo’s Real Housewives Of Atlanta Brings Drama But Lacks Class

Breaking news: Well, well, well, talk about drama? TMZ is reporting that Lisa Wu Hartwell is fighting with Kim. Source: TMZ.com-Reality catfights are all fun and games — until somebody drags children and crack into it.

Lisa Wu Hartwell from “Real Housewives of Atlanta” tells TMZ she did leave a threatening voicemail for her rival co-star– but only because Kim Zolciak called her a “crack whore” and insulted her children.

Lisa admits she lost her temper, but believes Kim — the one who dated “Big Poppa” — is using this minor incident as a catalyst to become the next reality show Z-list celeb.

Hartwell says there’s no hard feelings — as long as Kim leaves her children out of the mix. In other words, “Keep my name out ya mouth!” Click here to see the video footage: www.tmz.com

Previous Post: Ladies, have you been watching Bravo’s The Real Housewives Of Atlanta? As a reality show junkie, of course I have been watching. As a fan of the other 2 series- the original series, Real Housewives of Orange County and the 2nd installment, Real Housewives of New York City- I felt obligated to watch the newest set of rich women.
This group is very different from the other series. For one, the majority of the housewives are African American. There is one white woman (Kim) and a Chinese/African American woman (Lisa.)
The show has the normal curriculum of bitchiness and cat fights but what I think is REALLY missing, CLASS!!
These women truly think that they are doing things and that they are “movers and shakers.” That is a JOKE. Outside of Lisa and Deshawn, the other women have no ambition. You don’t see them raising their children(though Lisa- the ex-wife of r&b crooner, Keith Sweat was denied showing her kids on the show by Mr. Sweat). Oh, Nene did take her son to visit a college that she wants him to attend, which was obviously just for the show! But where is the substance?

I am quite disappointed in the fact that there is no depth to these women. They want to shop (which they should do) but there is nothing in their lives that give them depth. From what I’ve been reading online, there seems be a huge disappointment from REAL housewives in the Atlanta area.

DeShawn Snow and her husband Eric, captain of the Cleveland Cavaliers, recently moved to their dream home in Alpharetta, GA. Snow is member of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. She also runs The DeShawn Snow Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on improving self-esteem in teenage girls. Snow is the mother of three boys.

FWO NOTES: DeShawn seems the sweetest of all the girls. She is the only one on the show that actually (well, somewhat) parents her children. I can see she is a wife and mother in this series but she is out of her league. Did you see the episode where she hosted a charity function at her house and wasn’t able to raise any money for her foundation? It was no wonder! Did you see the people in that room? Where was the money in the room? Her event looked more like a night at the club than a serious fundraising event. Sweet girl but her peaches are to sweet to make a housewife cobbler. She has to go!
Kim Zolciak lives in an exclusive gated townhouse community in Duluth, GA with her two children. Zolciak is single, but happily dating with hopes to marry again in the near future. She also has her sights set on fame in the music business as a country singer, and is working with Grammy award-winning producer Dallas Austin. Elissa Eubanks/AJC
FWO NOTES: Kim, Kim, Kim! First let’s talk about your hair. Girlfriend, if you don’t get a better WIG!! I hate to see women rock wigs where their own natural hair is exposed in the front and the wig starts from the top of their head backwards. Let’s talk about your “Big Poppa!(featured to the right in the middle) who is actually married with kids of his own? If the blog rumors are true then you are whoring yourself out to Lee Najiar, the real estate tycoon?? With all the money Big Poppa is spending on you, can you get a lace front wig or better yet, get some extensions. That’s the FIRST thing you need to do.
Now, let’s talk about the singing. WTF!!!! Dallas Austin is robbing you!! Get your money back! You will never make it honey! You sound like a dog in heat, an injured cow!! First, you are too ghetto and secondly, you don’t have the talent. Try focusing on parenting your daughters who you call your best friends and learn to manage your finances so when Big Poppa cuts you off, you can still pay your mortgage and take care of your kids. Ditzy girl is tart and corny doesn’t make the peach cobbler either. Okay, Bye bye!!
Lisa Wu Hartwell, a resident of a luxurious country club community in Duluth, GA, is a busy career woman who wears many hats. She owns her own real estate firm, jewelry line, a baby clothing line, and juggles a budding acting, modeling and writing career. She’s a devoted wife to her husband, NFL player Ed Hartwell, and their three children. Elissa Eubanks/AJC

VIA E!:
The drama on Bravo’s new The Real Housewives of Atlanta series began long before the cameras ever started rolling. Lisa Wu Hartwell, one of the five women showcased in Bravo’s latest Real Housewives incarnation, tells me she was hoping to have all three of her children on the show, but her ex-husband, late-’80s R&B hitmaker Keith Sweat, has gotten in the way. Hartwell and Sweat have two sons together, 13-year-old Jordan and 11-year-old Justin. “He didn’t sign a waiver,” Hartwell complains. “He’s like, ‘Lisa, it’s nothing personal. I just really don’t know how they’re going to edit and if they’re going to make you look crazy. I just don’t want the kids to be, you know, overexposed or anything.’ “

Hartwell doesn’t buy it. “They asked their dad if could they be involved, and he [said] no,” she says. “It could have been a Disney show and I don’t think he would have signed it.”

An email sent to Sweat through his official website has not been returned. For now, Hartwell appears on the show as if she only has one child, one-year-old E.J., her son with her current husband, NFL player Ed Hartwell.

FWO NOTES: I think Keith Sweat was actually smart by not allowing his kids on the show. People seeking fame and even celebrities forget that kids will eventually mature and grow up. Do you want that done on television? Let them live a normal life and experience their childhood.

Now, I actually like Lisa. She seems really business oriented with her various ventures that she is doing with her husband. However, she is more of hustler type than a rich housewife. She just might be working too hard to really live up to the standards that the Real Housewives of New York and Orange County have set. Out of all of the women, I believe if she was surrounded by a different set of women, she could actually hang. She can keep her peach. I like her!

Sheree Whitfield a single socialite and resident of the exclusive Sandy Springs area of Atlanta. She is a busy working mother to three. Whitfield prides herself on her fashion sense, and owned her own upscale clothing boutique — Bella Azul — for years before closing up shop to focus on her next business venture, a clothing line. Elissa Eubanks/AJC
FWO NOTES: I am not sure what to make of Sheree. I think she might be a little “too real” for reality tv because she comes off harsh. She is another one that you don’t see parenting her children (yet?) and I’m not sure what she does. She talks about her recent divorce from her Altanta Falcons husband. Her friendships don’t seem genuine and she comes off very cold. Maybe this is from her divorce? I won’t rush to a judgment on her just yet so she can keep her peach for now. Rumor is that Sheree is actually in debt and all the glitz that we see isn’t all that it really seems. She can’t pay her bills since over spending and over indulging herself? Hmm..
Nene Leakes resides in the upscale Sugarloaf area of Atlanta with her husband Gregg, a successful real estate investor and business consultant, and their two sons. Leakes is the founder of The Twisted Hearts Foundation, which brings awareness to domestic violence against women. Elissa Eubanks/AJC
FWO NOTES: Nene, Nene. Now, she is ghetto fabulosity at it’s best. However, in this series, that isn’t a good thing. The wig, AGAIN, is horrible! I know there are better hair dressers in Atlanta. What is going on there?? Nene is an obvious case of a woman with “new money” and doesn’t have the class or sophistication to carry it well. Her husband looks much older than her and their dynamic reminds me of a father talking to his daughter. She obviously married “rich” and thinks she is flaunting it around Atlanta. The dynamic between Nene and Kim is just “off.” Nothing seems genuine and I question if they were friends before the show. And her poor kids! Who would want a mom showing up acting like that? She reminds me of Sandra from the old show, 227. Remember her? Nene is a “No-No”, she’s a sour patch peach. No pie for her either.
Interesting enough, Bethenny Frankel (RHW-NYCity) has a blog about the show on Bravo talking about the show. Some of her comments are on point and prove what I am talking about but nonetheless, it’s entertaining. Here is an excerpt:

Blogs

Bethenny Frankel’s Blog

I May Vomit In My Mouth.

Last week was hard to top, so parts of this week’s episode were a bit of a snooze.

We launched with DeShawn, her unrealistic goal of a million dollars raised in a night and Rita, her event planner. For the record, even during a financial boom, millions in a night is beyond a realistic goal. Big charities like the Robin Hood Foundatioin make a few million in a night, and they pull out all the stops to do so.

In a perfect world, people would just write checks to every charity without needing to be entertained. The reality is that there is a different event every night, people go to the best ones, and once there, if entertained, buzzed, and feeling good and special, the checks start flying.

Please can we discuss Kim’s hot pink shiny lips. Honestly. I just can’t get over her. I’ll excuse her for that because of the utterly classy way in which she ordered “Dom” with her friend at lunch talking about how she didn’t want to “use” cheap champagne. New money doesn’t even start this conversation, click here if you want to read more: www.bravotv.com

The Atlanta Journal Constitution has posted a poll for you to vote on which Real Housewife of Atlanta that you think is hot. Hilarious but if you want to vote, click here: www. accessatlanta.com.
IF the votes cast are reflective of their ratings, Bravo might need to re-cast this show. I think it has potential but just need more substance.
What do think?

mmmm. what is so different from organe county…and OMG New York besides color of skin… new york housewives were just as bad and faced obstacles that were not classy… the vulgar dancing & dressing by one… one begging boyfriend and really tring to force longterm commitment and so on… orange county… the one with ocd… the dughter that ner=ver cleaned up.. oh yeah, what about the mariage to a rich guy…all planned to hitch a rich guy.. very similar story lines just different color of skin.. give me a break and define class as you see it through your world.. it toook a lot of courage & class to do the show.. I hope in the future you learn to judge from the center…the medium so to speak.. this is the new america..right

I am from the Metro Atlanta Area and I have to say I am embarrassed. These women do not represent the REAL housewives of Atlanta. They have absolutely no class and are very crude. If Bravo wants to make a show about the real housewives of Atlanta they can come make one about me. I graduated from a prestigious art school in Atlanta and started my own successful company at 22. I did it all on myself with out a Man’s money to help me a long.

We shouldn’t be teaching young girls to be like NeNe or Kim who I am guessing is just a home wrecker, we need to be teaching them that they can get what they want by earning it themselves and in the long run they will probably be better off.
Be a Sarah Palin - Not a Kim Zolciak

  • DH says:

Well, the Charity Auction w/the three attendee wives noted no one bid - neither did they. This show is zings out the trash meter. Bobby Whitfield jetison that bioche’ who has no class. NeNe is hoot-n-howl of hood all the way but didn’ see the set up coming from Bobby’s to-be ex what an intentional “I’m leaving you off my list because I’m a bitch.” Overall, trash sitting in sunshine stills smells the same. And money doesn’t give one class but it sure enough magnifies trash.

Bring back the Original OC honeys.

I watch the show every chance a get, I love it, the show real class act, fresh and the cast is great. The best cast person is Nene, she keep it real.

  • Row says:

I think it is what is entertainment! However what it isn’t is the Real Housewives of Atlanta. We come in all different facets and walks of life. enduring different topics and struggles that these ladies and this show has yet to touch or will probably never even speak of; What about women like me I’m a single working mother struggling to raise her three children ages 10, 9, and 7 who just lost her job, car, and is about to get evicted from her newly acquired home if I don’t come up with 1,114.00 all before the holidays!! Now that’s real.
So yes it is entertaining but it is not a depiction of what some of us are doing within the relm or scope of our lives as Atlanta housewives people.

  • NICOLE says:

    OK… where do I start..

NeNe… All the weave in the world could not make that “woman” attractive. In the group picture at the top, she looks more drag queen than ever. Her and Kim need to sue their hair stylists… epic fail. Not to mention NeNe is a tacky, insecure, loud, mess - someone please give her a chair in a corner and have her STFU. Oh and why would she buy her son that “pimped” out truck as a graduation present, but not get his teeth fixed. Yeah, great parenting.

Kim and Sheree… they need to get a room. Sheree is so full of herself, but consistently mispronounced the word ASK - it’s not AXED. You’d think someone so prissy could master basic English.

DeShawn… sweetheart, but seems seriously credulous. Oh.. and the word is jewelry, not jewery. Has the nerve to call herself a “single parent” when her husband is gone, but never has to lift a finger to care for her kids - if she did, she wouldn’t need that full staff.

Lisa… the only one worth watching. I don’t care that she was married to Keith Sweat or that she supposedly filed bankruptcy, she’s the only one that’s making moves and trying to earn her keep. Owns several businesses, works as hard as her man, and tries to avoid the drama -she’s the only role model on the show.

  • Amanda says:

I have to say..the only reason I watched this show is because it was so low rent and trashy. Its like watching Jerry Springer (which I can’t tolerate) …but its not rehearsed. Class is not measured by your income (it might help) but some people can’t cover up their roots no matter how hard they try. Look at Kid Rock and Pam Anderson. Prime examples! I would only get along with Lisa and DeShawn. Mainly because these 2 ladies seem to have kind hearts, are generous, intelligent and have some class. The others….loud mouth opinionated…ignornat Nene who wants to fight all of thime and shes over 40…TRASH! Oh and put those saggy ole boobies away…guiess she couldn’t afford a nice bra until she married a wealthy guy. Not a lady. Resolve the dadddy issues or let them go. You’ll feel better about yourself and you won’t have to be so hard and angry, and treat everyone like they are out to get you. They aren’t. Kim…was just to overdone…and still didn’t look hot. The only thing that “might” have turned my head was her hair but that was fake…or her boobs but those were constantly on display thus leading me to believe she has no other assets a man would be intrested in. Not her brain…thats for sure. And for being 29….she looks rough. I seriously thought this chic was 45 and just had lots of cheap work done…in Mexico. She should call the Bunny Ranch since that seems to be her line of work….those chics aren’t that hot either. Then agan…shes just not cute. My husband said she looks like a man with her squared off jaw. Doesn’t her wig get caught up in the goopy lip gloss of hers? And Shree…I don’t dislike the lady…shes got ambition. However, she does come off judgemental and a bit cold. I liked the way she tried to handle NeNes ghetto butt…but, you can’t compromise with someone in such a fragile emotional and mental state. Let that go an pat yourself on the back for attempting to deal with her! It was great entertainment but…on the trashy side for sure!!!!!! These women were not Atlantas high society.

  • dwayne in Bermuda says:

This show was a sad commentary about the dangers of money that comes without the real understanding of its origins. What made this show sad is that it perpetuated the stereo types of the aggressive black woman, and the cut throat arguementative nature that the world thinks of when they think of black women.

There was very little healthy interaction with this women and their children with meaningful, conversation and affection. they seemed to be more worried about image and material things.

They are seemed to be more concerned with namebrands and labels than genuine relationships and meaningful conversation.

However, the real winners were the men/husbands, they all were balance, even tempered, and thoughtful. I was impressed with how they all “appeared” to stay away from the drama and remain classy.

the women on the show could learn alot from the men.

    expensive weave $500

    Louis V. Bag $3000

    Bentley $250,000

    Class and Grace: Priceless

  • I’m glad to see some women of color on Bravo’s RWH series because I’m so over the tired and boring women of the OC and the one from New York was a snooze as well. I think RWH hasn’t ratings this good since Project Runway, because the other series surely can’t compare as far as must see t.v. is concerned. Nene was the realist one on the show and I admire her for that. I noticed it was statd that she acted like someone with new money but if you asking me Ramona from the New York cast was exactly the same. All the women pretty much have the same thing in common from all the shows there’s drama, golddiggers and entertainment.
