Early Wednesday morning, State Sen. Roy Ashburn (R-Calif.) was pulled over and arrested for drunk driving. Sources report that Ashburn — a fierce opponent of gay rights — was driving drunk after leaving a gay nightclub; when the officer stopped the state-issued vehicle, there was an unidentified man in the passenger seat of the car.

It’s bad enough that they let their THREE YEAR OLD daughter walk around the streets of LA and New York in heels and adult-like clothing, but now little Suri has been spotted out wearing bright red lipstick! 

These parents may be mega-stars, but they really need a dose of reality.  This is NOT how you raise a child.  Suri is not a doll for Katie to play dress up with!  It’s fine to spoil your child (to a limit), but these two are taking things WAY too far by parading Suri around like she’s a miniature adult.  Looks like getting these two to understand that Suri needs to be more age-appropriate is gonna be a Mission Impossible!

How ironic!  One of the Republicans’ most popular criticisms of President Obama is that he uses teleprompters during his speeches.  We’re not sure what’s wrong with using teleprompters… but we sure do know what’s wrong with being hypocritical! 

Sarah Palin was caught using ‘crib notes’ during her speech this weekend at the Tea Party Convention in Tennessee.  Photos were snapped of Palin with actual NOTES written on her hand to help her out during a Q&A session at the conference.  Something tells us this isn’t the first time Sarah’s had to use cheat notes to help her get by… and it probably won’t be the last!

Former (quasi) NBA star, Paul Shirley, has just shown the world just what a frigging idiot he is by BLASTING the poor people of Haiti and declaring that he won’t donate any money to help the devastated island nation rebuild. You might want to sit down for this one… because it’s truly one of the most OFFENSIVE pieces of crap I’ve seen in a LONG TIME.

Paul Shirley has probably become public enemy No. 1 in Haiti and elsewhere.

The former NBA player posted a long column online in response to the earthquake disaster in Haiti in which he criticized Haitian citizens and said he won’t donate to relief efforts.

“I haven’t donated to the Haitian relief effort for the same reason that I don’t give money to homeless men on the street,” he wrote. “Based on past experiences, I don’t think the guy with the sign that reads ‘Need You’re Help’ is going to do anything constructive with the dollar I might give him. If I use history as my guide, I don’t think the people of Haiti will do much with my money either.”

And he didn’t stop there, even writing a letter to the people of Haiti.

“Dear Haitians,” he wrote, “First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded.

“As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it’s possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?”

He also asked what’s being done to prevent this tragedy from happening again, using New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina as an example.

“We did the same after Hurricane Katrina,” he said. “We were quick to vilify humans who were too slow to respond to the needs of victims, forgetting that the victims had built and maintained a major city below sea level in a known target zone for hurricanes. Our response: Make the same mistake again. Rebuild a doomed city, putting aside logic as we did.”

Shirley has been dropped as a freelance writer for ESPN for his comments on Haiti.

How horrible! Nancy Kerrigan’s father died after having a fight with his son yesterday.

“He and his father had a violent argument and struggle at the home, and Daniel Kerrigan either fell or collapsed on the kitchen floor,” said Elizabeth Healey, an assistant Middlesex County district attorney.

A police report said officers responding to a 911 call at 1:30 a.m. Sunday found Daniel Kerrigan lying on the floor unconscious. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. An autopsy was planned.

The report said Mark Kerrigan was found on a couch in the basement of the home in the middle-class Boston suburb of Stoneham and was “belligerent and combative” when questioned. Officers used pepper spray to subdue him and eventually arrested him.

“(Mark) Kerrigan appeared intoxicated but appeared coherent in understanding questions and answering them,” the report stated.

“He stated that he wanted to use the phone and his father would not let him. He said he struggled with his father and put his hands around his father’s neck and his father fell to the floor,” the arresting officer wrote.

Mark Kerrigan told officers that he believed his father was “faking it,” according to the report.

The officers said they saw blood on the floor near where Daniel Kerrigan had been treated by emergency workers, as well as signs of a struggle, including three pictures that had apparently been knocked off the wall and a broken piece of the telephone.

A woman who answered the phone at a listing for Daniel Kerrigan identified herself only as “Dan’s sister” and said her brother “had a massive heart attack.” She said her nephew played no part in the death and declined to comment further.

Brenda Kerrigan, Daniel Kerrigan’s wife, told the Boston Herald that her husband died of a heart attack and there was nothing suspicious about the death.

In arguing for the bail, Healey cited Mark Kerrigan’s “lengthy” criminal record, including arrests for assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction and violation of a restraining order. Court records showed the charges were related to Mark Kerrigan’s wife, Janet, though it wasn’t immediately clear whether they were still together.

Kerrigan was released from jail in 2007 and had been living at his parents’ home. Healey said.

Defense attorney Denise Moore argued for no bail, citing strong ties to the area.

“He is extremely distraught over the death of his father and denies any responsibility,” Moore said in court. She said her client, an Army veteran who had served overseas, was on medication for post-traumatic stress syndrome and was seeing a psychiatrist.

Nancy Kerrigan and other members of the family were not in court for the arraignment. Jim Day, who described himself as a family friend who has known the Kerrigan children since they were very young, said outside the courthouse that the family was grieving. Source:MSNBC.com

James Cameron’s completely immersive spectacle “Avatar” may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world Pandora.

On the fan forum site “Avatar Forums,” a topic thread entitled “Ways to cope with the depression of the dream of Pandora being intangible,” has received more than 1,000 posts from people experiencing depression and fans trying to help them cope. The topic became so popular last month that forum administrator Philippe Baghdassarian had to create a second thread so people could continue to post their confused feelings about the movie.

“I wasn’t depressed myself. In fact the movie made me happy ,” Baghdassarian said. “But I can understand why it made people depressed. The movie was so beautiful and it showed something we don’t have here on Earth. I think people saw we could be living in a completely different world and that caused them to be depressed.”

A post by a user called Elequin expresses an almost obsessive relationship with the film.

“That’s all I have been doing as of late, searching the Internet for more info about ‘Avatar.’ I guess that helps. It’s so hard I can’t force myself to think that it’s just a movie, and to get over it, that living like the Na’vi will never happen. I think I need a rebound movie,” Elequin posted.

A user named Mike wrote on the fan Web site “Naviblue” that he contemplated suicide after seeing the movie.

“Ever since I went to see ‘Avatar’ I have been depressed. Watching the wonderful world of Pandora and all the Na’vi made me want to be one of them. I can’t stop thinking about all the things that happened in the film and all of the tears and shivers I got from it,” Mike posted. “I even contemplate suicide thinking that if I do it I will be rebirthed in a world similar to Pandora and the everything is the same as in ‘Avatar.’ ”

Other fans have expressed feelings of disgust with the human race and disengagement with reality.

Cameron’s movie, which has pulled in more than $1.4 billion in worldwide box office sales and could be on track to be the highest grossing film of all time, is set in the future when the Earth’s resources have been pillaged by the human race. A greedy corporation is trying to mine the rare mineral unobtainium from the planet Pandora, which is inhabited by a peace-loving race of 10-foot tall, blue-skinned natives called the Na’vi.

In their race to mine for Pandora’s resources, the humans clash with the Na’vi, leading to casualties on both sides. The world of Pandora is reminiscent of a prehistoric fantasyland, filled with dinosaur-like creatures mixed with the kinds of fauna you may find in the deep reaches of the ocean. Compared with life on Earth, Pandora is a beautiful, glowing utopia.

Ivar Hill posts to the “Avatar” forum page under the name Eltu. He wrote about his post-”Avatar” depression after he first saw the film earlier this month.

“When I woke up this morning after watching Avatar for the first time yesterday, the world seemed … gray. It was like my whole life, everything I’ve done and worked for, lost its meaning,” Hill wrote on the forum. “It just seems so … meaningless. I still don’t really see any reason to keep … doing things at all. I live in a dying world.”

Reached via e-mail in Sweden where he is studying game design, Hill, 17, explained that his feelings of despair made him desperately want to escape reality.

“One can say my depression was twofold: I was depressed because I really wanted to live in Pandora, which seemed like such a perfect place, but I was also depressed and disgusted with the sight of our world, what we have done to Earth. I so much wanted to escape reality,” Hill said.

Cameron’s special effects masterpiece is very lifelike, and the 3-D performance capture and CGI effects essentially allow the viewer to enter the alien world of Pandora for the movie’s 2½-hour running time, which only lends to the separation anxiety some individuals experience when they depart the movie theater.

“Virtual life is not real life and it never will be, but this is the pinnacle of what we can build in a virtual presentation so far,” said Dr. Stephan Quentzel, psychiatrist and Medical Director for the Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. “It has taken the best of our technology to create this virtual world and real life will never be as utopian as it seems onscreen. It makes real life seem more imperfect.”
