Clear For Travel
If you travel frequently for leisure or business, then the Fly Clear program may be for you. As an approved Fly Clear member you won’t have to wait in security lines at the airport.
Before you get too excited, you should know that Fly Clear members still proceed through the metal detectors and x-ray machines, but the rest of the process is expedited.
If the airport has a designated lane at the security checkpoint, the Fly Clear member must verify by fingerprint or iris image (collected during enrollment) along with a government-issued photo ID and boarding pass before entering the lane. Once in the Fly Clear line, the Fly Clear member verifies their identity with an attendant and again by inserting their Clear Card into the kiosk. The kiosk then verifies the fingerprint or iris image a second time. Once the Clear member is verified at the kiosk, the kiosk prints a receipt indicating they are “clear” to fly.
Clear members still proceed through metal detectors and x-ray machines. When members approach the airport security lane, Fly Clear attendants help with preparing bins through the checkpoint – speeding up the process.
The cost of the Clear membership is minimal, with the first year totaling $128 ($100 for the membership and $28 for the TSA). Members must complete fingerprint and retinal scans before they can be approved for the program and receive their Clear Member Smart Card.
Fly Clear is currently available at select airports. To find out more about the program visit http://www.flyclear.com/
