Florida Federation of Republican Women Boycotts Oprah- Let’s Counteract
The President of the Florida Chapter of the Federation of Republican Women is calling for a boycott of the Oprah Show and Oprah’s other properties.
This action stems from Oprah’s refusal to have Sarah Palin on the show until AFTER election. This boycott is not only ridiculous but goes against everything that the womens’ movement stands for- having your own voice.
“Women in Florida helped build Oprah into the icon she is today,” Linda Ivell, President of the FFRW said in a statement. “We are deeply disappointed in Ms. Winfrey’s decision to sit out the greatest political moment in the history of women since suffrage.”
Question- If Sarah Palin’s interview is that impactful to history and the history of women, does that mean
that Hillary Clinton and her accomplishments have no value to our history?
This past Friday,Oprah denied accusations that she was even considering the vice presidential nominee as a guest. “At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a plat for any of the candidates,” Winfrey wrote in a statement, responding to a story from The Drudge report claiming her staff was “sharply divided” on whether they should book the Alaska Governor.
Winfrey agreed Palin would be a “fantastic interview,” but wouldn’t invite her on until after the November elections.
The Florida Federation of Republican Women, the “largest political organization in Florida,” which is celebrating the group’s 58 year anniversary, is also encouraging members to cancel subscriptions to O Magazine, Ivell said.
“We find it to be an abuse of her power -gained on the backs of our patronage of her advertising empire – to use her program to so blatantly support Obama in the face of this historic moment. So, we are tuning out and canceling our subscriptions to O Magazine and encourage other women to do the same,” Ms Ivell said.
Winfrey came under fire from some of her supporters in December after campaigning with the Democratic nominee in South Carolina.
Ivell did not say the Florida Republicans would be tuning out indefinitely, but at least until ‘after the election.’ She adds that she and her members respect the decision to support Obama, “as every American is entitled to their personal opinion and vote.”
However, Ivell, you chose to boycott Oprah because she chooses NOT to interview Palin right now, taking away the Talk Show Queen’s RIGHT TO CHOOSE?
What can we do to fight this? WATCH, WATCH, and WATCH the Oprah show and prove to these women that they can’t sway our votes or intimidate us. Yes, girls, let’s not be manipulated by a political agenda by one party to monopolize press on their candidate, let’s “call a spade a spade” and keep it real. We know there are areas where Obama will not get “fair” coverage as well. So stop whining and put up and FIGHT!

I used to be an Oprah fan until she misused her powers. God gave us free will and choices and now my choice is clear: I’m voting for Senator John Mc Cain and Governor Sarah Palin. It might be her show…which I too made her rich by viewing her shows, seeing her movies and purchasing her magazines…but it’s my vote. Not only will I vote McCain & Palin, but I vote to ban the Oprah show and any followers that misused their media powers. Again, it is my free will and choice.
If the media can express what they want, why not churches?
This story was an excellent example:
“Pastor Gus Booth of Warroad Community Church in Warroad, Minnesota, could be in trouble with the Internal Revenue Service.
Booth preached a sermon encouraging his congregation to vote against Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama when Clinton was still actively in the Democratic presidential race. He used scripture to outline why both candidates were out of line for supporting abortion and homosexuality. The IRS has imposed strict restrictions on what pastors can do and say in the political arena.
“I mean the law, the IRS law is unconstitutional. I have a freedom-of-speech right to be able to say whatever I want to say from behind the pulpit — and they have no right to impede that,” the pastor explains.
Booth was asked about the possibility of his church losing its tax-exempt status. “I would think they would try to and maybe they intend to, but ultimately I don’t preach the gospel in order to get a political deduction. If we lose our tax-exempt status, then so be it. I want to keep it because it keeps more money in the kingdom, and we do good things as a church. I mean we do so much more than politics here, it’s amazing,” Booth adds.
The Alliance Defense Fund will stand by Booth in the event the IRS challenges his actions.
“I preached a sermon,” Booth explains. “It was an opposition sermon based on the presidential candidates of Clinton and Obama — that’s when Clinton was still in the race — and I evaluated their positions on some key issues in light of scripture. And scripture has come to a conclusion that those two issues — specifically abortion and homosexuality — are vehemently opposed [by God] ….” And because both candidates are “okay with those sins,” Booth says he “just encouraged [his] congregation not to vote for them.”
If the IRS relieves the church of its tax-exempt status, Booth says that means he must pay taxes in order to preach about sin as it relates to politics.”
God Bless America!
