Giving Gift Cards This Holiday? Think Again
This is a really interesting email that came across our blog. You should double check it but we figured we’d post it anyway. I think it makes sense given the amount of stores that are closing. We had better be very careful of gift certificates this Christmas.
Just in case you have them, use those gift certificates or you may lose
them.

I work for The Home Depot and this is old information. We announced the closing of 15 stores back in May ‘08. Please clarify for your readers – Thanks.
Thank you for informing us! We stand corrected.
Hello,
I work for Talbots and we are not going out of business. That information is inaccurate. There is a letter from Talbots CEO Trudy Sullivan. http://www.talbots.com
I work for Ann Taylor and want you to know that we announced almost a year ago that we are closing some underperforming stores, but we continue to open new ones, and have almost 1,000 stores in our fleet! Fear not that you won’t be able to use your gift cards…they are a great option for the holiday season. Plus, when you buy an Ann Taylor gift card, you get 15% off when you redeem it in January!
I am a gift-card girl and have planned and still plan on giving Ann Taylor gift cards to my sisters for Christmas this year. There are tons of stores that they can go to and shop so this doesn’t make me fearful at all….
I work for Cache and have had many people asking us if we are closing down. We are NOT closing all of our locations, and the closings that were scheduled for 2008 have already occured. Any closings that will take place in 2009 have yet to be determined. We have recently opened several new locations, and our company is performing well as compared with some of our competitors, and we continue to be a debt-free corporation. You do not need to be concerned with buying gift cards as we will have 300+ stores you can redeem them at, all of which will be open after the holidays!
