Greenhouse: Green Nightclub Trend Comes to NYC
Energy conservation and sustainability has never been top criteria for club goers, but as of late, business owners have started to take responsibility for the environment in the way that they can and that is to provide places that don’t preach being green but simply practice it.
Greenhouse is a new club in NYC that opened earlier this month in downtown Manhattan. By building green-like clubs like Temple Nightclub in San Francisco, Surya in London and Watt in Rotterdam, Greenhouse’s goal is to encourage peeps to party in a sustainable way without necessarily thinking about green issues (at least on the surface), according to The NY Post.
Complete with waterless urinals, walls made of bamboo, LED lighting, Edun- clad staffers (Bono’s wife, Ali Hewson) and a backwall stocked with Green spirits and juices (along with standard beverages as well), Greenhouse’s attempt to attract celebrity charity events, benefits and private affairs is a strong one. By reducing its carbon footprint, at minimum, it might encourage other club owners to do the same and make a significant impact within an industry that normally ignores social responsibility.
