K-Dad: Federline Gets Sole Custody Of Brit’s Boys
A surprising agreement has been reached in the custody battle between Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline. According to sources, the agreement gives K-Fed sole custody of the couple’s two sons, while Britney will have increased visitation and overnight rights. The settlement, which still has to be approved by the courts, will prevent the couple from dragging the issue out in court next month. Parties for Britney and Kevin have indicated that once Jamie (Brit’s dad) Spears’ conservatorship ends in two years, Brit will petition the courts to have the agreement amended to return to the couple’s original 50/50 custody agreement.
Britney and Kevin split in 2006 and shared custody of the boys until Britney’s increasingly bizarre behavior led to her hospitalization earlier this year for reported mental health issues. The pop star’s odd behaviors also led to suspicion that the singer, said to be worth $100 million, was also abusing substances. Britney lost all visitation with her children following a bizarre showdown with authorities in which she holed herself up in her house with her youngest son. The incident also prompted her father Jamie to step in and take control of her legal affairs.
Britney’s people state that the songstress is pleased with the new arrangement, and that Britney will focus her efforts on expanding her television and movie career. Jive records has reportedly made plans for Britney to spend time in the recording studio this summer to record tracks for a new album as well.
