Oprah’s Double Standard For Friends: Bebe Winans
Oprah Winfrey, known for having very strict standards in terms of who she supports and invites on her show has some of us up in arms. Oprah came out protesting domestic violence in an interview with Access Hollywood after the Chris Brown/Rihanna domestic violence incident. In her statement, Oprah proclaimed “Domestic violence is something that I wouldn’t tolerate. Period,” and banned Chris Brown from the show.
However, in February, right after the Chris Brown/Rihanna incident, one of Oprah’s dearest friends, Bebe Winans, was arrested for domestic violence for pushing his wife to ground after a heated argument about custody issues. Below is the arrest warrant was issued based on an affidavit from Debra Winans, whom he divorced six years ago after 16 years of marriage.

After banning Chris Brown from the show because of his domestic violence case, Oprah invited Bebe Winans to her show not to long ago to host “Oprah’s Karaoke Challenge,” an ‘American Idol’ style competition to find the nation’s best karaoke singer and promote his new reunion album with his sister CeCe Winans, ‘Still.’
We all know all the power of Oprah and her show. Her show has moved millions of books and albums for the artists who’ve appeared on her show. But to bend your self proclaimed moral code to allow a friend to make an appearance but don’t allow Chris Brown to use your show as a platform to talk is just unfair.
Note to Oprah: It’s not good to make a harsh stand against an issue without checking out what’s happening in your own backyard!
