The 44th President of The United States Of America, Barack Obama

I am sitting here amazed and in love with America! We have pulled through and made history! Barack Obama, the first African American President of the United States! What an amazing feat in our history and I am so proud to have participated!!

Here is a note Barack Obama, I mean, President Barack Obama just sent out to his supporters:

I’m about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first.
We just made history. And I don’t want you to forget how we did it.
You made history every single day during this campaign — every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it’s time for change.
I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign.
We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I’ll be in touch soon about what comes next.
But I want to be very clear about one thing… All of this happened because of you.
Thank you,
Barack

Here are some thoughts from our friends and readers. Share with us your thoughts!!!
This is just amazing. We have prayed to see this day. When you look at how strong we as a people have become overtime; breaking barriers and setting new standards, it just goes to show the hard work of our ancestors paid off. But the ultimate challenge has been conquered. We have finally overcome!!!!!! Congratulations President Obama
-Derek Auguste

I am so happy, excited and speechless. I could not be happier that Barack Obama won the presidency. I don’t think he will be a great president, I know he will be. We made history!-Savitree Lootawan

It was a honor to vote this year. To be a part of something so tremendous makes me so happy to have the right to vote. Today is the day where it is confirmed that the world can be our oyster. We made history and my childrens children will understand that they too can be president. We can and we did!- Laura Hinds

It means…that people, themselves, are ready to change. I believe that people are now encouraged to help one another, volunteer more and extend a helping hand to their neighbor. At least, this is what I hope…
-Kenya M. Sumner

I made my daughters sit and watch Barack’s speech at the DNC in August. I explained to them the significance of what was happening. I will do the same tonight when the returns are final. I found it hard to keep my composure when I was talking to them. If we make history tonight I will cry because I hope that this moment will reverse some of the slips and falls we have been making as a people since the civil rights era. We need our dignity and pride back. Most of all we need our confidence and swagger back. I am not talking to those on this email but to those in areas that we constantly promote in and hawk our albums to. A lot of what we see about ourselves is embarrassing to me. I want us to be better and this will do a lot towards letting the generation behind us catch back up to the strides our parents made during that era. -James Lopez

I voted early in Atlanta last week, and after 2 hours in line I started crying when I approached the promise room where the Poll workers were smiling at me. Looking at Sen. Obama’s name on the computer screen was surreal. The older women black and white looked like they wanted to pat me on my back “Job well done young lady”. Today I have my Rhinestone Obama shirt on, and as I walked thru the Florida Airport this morning…people including security all asked where did you get that. It like we are all united by a movement for change. I am proud, delighted, and I feel a new beginning around the corner.

My parents have been citizens of this country for over 15 years and this was the first time they voted. I registered them both to vote and we all woke up as a family and got on that line! It was the best feeling ever to see so many people from my community, some of who I would have never expected to vote, out there on that line! For the first time in forever, I felt like we were doing something positive as a community!!
-Maria Melendez

“In 2004, I held my 9-month-old daughter in my lap and watched the Democratic National Convention. As I Listened to some unknown state legislator from Illinois speak, I was mesmerized and whispered in her ears, “He’s going to be your president one day.” There is no way I thought that day would be before she celebrated her 5th birthday. My mind is racing with images of “firsts” that are etched in my memory. Not yet 10, I knew something special was happening when Vanessa Williams became the first black Miss America. Watching Doug Williams become the first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl was impressive. And tears of joy streamed down my face when Halle Berry won her Academy Award. Tonight, as Barack Obama gets closer to the magic number, I feel a weird calm fall over me. Maybe with this win, we can all really believe that anything is possible.” -Monica Lewis-Clyburn

It’s interesting how for the last couple of weeks I set out on a mission to spread the word about our artist and fell in love with a passion for CHANGE! I come across people of all walks of life, color and race. What was interesting is that you all know how much I like to JOKE AND HAVE FUN! I walked into this McDonald’s in rural Ohio telling people “Don’t Forget To Vote” and EVERYONE OF THEM WHERE TALKING ABOUT OBAMA AND THE CHANGE WE DESPERATELY NEED! They were ALL white, hispanic and middle eastern… NO BLACKS!
This has been a trend across the country in my last two weeks.. So many MOTIVATED COLLEGE STUDENTS, YOUNG PEOPLE AND WORKING ADULTS EXCITED ABOUT THE CHANGE TO COME…
Thank you ALL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE THIS JOURNEY… IT’S OUR LUNCH COUNTER MOMENT!!

For the first time in my life I can see the picture of a President on someone’s wall and understand why it’s there. –Keith Sayres

“I congratulate President-elect Obama on his historic victory and now its time to begin unifying the country so we can take on the extraordinary challenges that this generation faces.” –George Clooney

“I feel like hope won. It’s not just a victory for Barack Obama. It feels like America did the right thing…It feels like anything is now possible.”- Oprah Winfrey

“Yes We Can.”OBAMA IS OUR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone that voted, no matter their choice…should be proud for voting in the first place :) .”- Lindsay Lohan

“For those of us that care so much for civil liberties and freedom for all this is a phenomenal time…We may now have an opportunity with this new and forward thinking President to see some real evolution and change occur. I hope all of you are as proud as I am of the electoral process of the United States, which will permit all of us to benefit hopefully from a historic and heartwarming sea change.”- Martha Stewart

“It’s a great day, it’s a beautiful morning, a new dawn a new beginning – not just in America but the world over. I think race has always been interwoven in the fabric of America, but in this referendum of the American people, there’s been seismic movement as far as American views on race in this country. I think that’s a lot to do with young, white Americans – they don’t have the same views as their parents.”- Spike Lee
