Guess no one bothered to tell a Roman Catholic Priest in South Carolina that it’s not up to him to judge us, but rather, for God to judge! Father Jay Scott Newman issued a letter to his parishioners last Sunday informing them that voting for Barack Obama in the presidential race “constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil” and warned that their eternal souls were at risk if they fail to do penance for casting votes for Obama!! Father Newman says he took such a stance to protest Obama’s pro-abortion platform, which the Catholic church has also publicly condemned.

Father Newman claims he would have issued the same letter had a Republican run for office with a pro-abortion stance, yet the priest’s hate-filled letter referred to Obama by his full name- including his middle name Hussein- which appears to mirror Republicans’ failed attempts to incite fear and distrust of Obama by using his full name to create an association between him and terrorist threats.

The priest’s letter included the following statements:

“Our nation has chosen for its chief executive the most radical pro-abortion politician ever to serve in the United States Senate or to run for president.”

“Voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exits constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil, and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside of the full communion of Christ’s Church and under the judgment of divine law. Persons in this condition should not receive Holy Communion until and unless they are reconciled to God in the Sacrament of Penance, lest they eat and drink their own condemnation.”

There is no word yet on how the Catholic church plans to respond to the priest’s warnings.
